Outlook.com is a free email and calendar service that helps you keep your emails, calendars, and files in one place, so your work life is better organized. Check emails on all of your devices, add events to your calendar, and share files. To set up your Outlook account, you'll need to enter a preferred email address and password. If you already have a Microsoft account, you can use that to log in to Outlook as well. As you log in to your new account, you'll be asked for a few details, such as your birthday and email signature. This helps Outlook personalize your experience. Read MoreNext, you'll be asked to import contacts. In order to do this, first, you have to download your contacts from an existing email provider in CSV format, and then upload the file in Outlook. Alternatively, you can also add individual contacts using the Add a contact option. The email display in Outlook is divided into three panes. The first one is a menu that displays options such as Inbox, Junk Items, Drafts, Sent Items, Deleted Items, and Archive. The second pane displays the subjects of your emails, while the last pane displays the body of the email. You can choose to delete, archive, move, or categorize your emails. By default, your emails are divided into two categories, Focused and Other. The Junk option lets you mark an email as junk or block the sender from sending future emails, while the Sweep option lets you move messages to the Deleted Items folder. Sending a new email in Outlook follows a similar drill as in other email apps. Simply click New Message, add a recipient, enter a subject, and finally, the body of your email.
Outlook also lets you add emojis and GIFs to your emails. At the bottom of the screen, next to the email icon, you'll find three more options. First is the Calendar option. This lets you add important events, and also create as many calendars as you'd like for work and personal use. Next to Calendar is the People option, where you can add contacts, create contact lists, and favorite contacts. Finally, there's the Tasks option, powered by the Microsoft To-Do app. Here, you can add new tasks and create new task lists too. Those with an existing Microsoft account can also use Skype when they log in to their Outlook account with the same email. The Skype Web Client in your email inbox lets you send messages, make calls, and even add attachments. If you use a number of Microsoft apps such as Skype, OneDrive, Microsoft To-do, and Calendar, you'll find Outlook even more useful, as it syncs information across all of these apps and devices and makes your life simpler.
